Royal times in Hué

The stately city of Hué is draped in historical grandeur and stunningly located on the banks of the Perfume River. The shimmering waters of the river can be explored by boat, and you can visit the many pagodas situated in the old part of the city. Hué is particularly renowned for its Royal Citadel, set in a square of thick walls 10km long and 2m high. In the former royal city, the history of the old Vietnamese rulers still radiates from the ancient monuments.

Classic Hoi An

Hoi An is a city bursting at the seams with atmosphere, history- and tailors. Wander through the narrow streets of the sleepy town, enjoy some delicious food at the old port or relax on the sparkling white sands of the nearby beach. During this module, you'll visit My Son, a historic site with well-preserved ancient temples, despite severe bombings during the dark past of Vietnam. There's also plenty of time to be measured up for a suit by a friendly local tailor or buy an original painting from an art gallery in the town. Hammock on Palm Island

About 50km north of Nha Trang you'll find an idyllic oasis surrounded by azure waters. Palm Island really is Vietnam at its most exotic- a paradise of gently swaying palm trees and ivory sands. Diving around Palm Island

Get your PADI Open Water or Advanced Diving Certificate in one of the most idyllic spots in Vietnam. Palm Island has plenty of brilliant dive sites, including submerged shipwrecks, and sometimes even whales. Your accommodation will be a basic but comfortable wooden bungalow on the bleached white beach, where you can flop into a lounger after a tiring day of diving. Visibility underwater is best during the months of February to late September and from April to July.

Dreamy beaches and sand dunes

It is only a short train journey (4hrs) from Ho Chi Minh City to the tropical beach at Mui Ne. During this module, you will stay in delightful, colonial-style bungalows and practically roll out of bed onto the vast, golden sands. Stretched out on your lounger, fresh juice in hand, there is plenty of time to let your adventures sink in while you soak up the sun. But Mui Ne has a lot more to offer. Just a little inland you'll find yourself amongst huge sand dunes, that will make you feel as though you're standing in the middle of the Sahara.

Saigon and the Mekong

This is a whirlwind trip of the important cultural highlights in southern Vietnam. You'll spend 3 nights in a comfortable hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, and one night in a hotel on the bank of the mighty Mekong river. You'll visit the haunting Cu Chi tunnels, where the Viet Cong lived as underground fugitives while under threat of American attack. You'll get an eerie sense of Vietnam's dark past as you crawl through the tunnels and observe the horrific torture machines. After this confronting experience, you'll spend 2 days sailing through the waterways of the emerald Mekong Delta, stocking up on refreshments at one of the passing floating markets. Sandy beaches and natural springs

Phu Quoc Island, nicknamed the Emerald Island, is covered with rich tropical forest and lined with powdery white sands. It is a perfect place to collapse on a lounger for a sun-kissed snooze, take dips in the turquoise waters, and snorkel through technicoloured coral. However, there's plenty to see inland, including Phu Quoc Nature Reserve and the riverside market at Duong Dong. You can take a boat trip to the 15 islands of An Thoi, situated off the south coast, and and snorkel amongst shoals of tropical fish.
