Modules: short independent Vietnam tours

We offer a number of bite-sized independent Vietnam tours (or modules) usually lasting 3 or 4 days. These can also be combined to form a longer adventure. Vietnam is a long and narrow country, making it logical to travel from north to south or vice versa. If you choose to begin your independent Vietnam tour in the north and work your way south, you can easily round off your trip with some relaxation on the beach. For more information about suggested routes and Vietnam itineraries, take a look at our travelling in Vietnam page.

During your Vietnam trip, you'll travel independently, but every now and then you may join a small group for an activity or excursion (e.g. Cu Chi tunnels or Halong Bay cruise).

If you need a helping hand to start planning your trip, take a look at our Vietnam itineraries for inspiration. To build your own Vietnam itinerary, simply choose the bite-sized Vietnam tours that catch your eye, and add them to our quote request form. We'll then work on this with you to create your ideal Vietnam itinerary, including overnight trains and other forms of travel. Alternatively, you can always contact one of our Vietnam travel specialists at info@vietnamtravelplan.co.uk or call 01273 322 041.

The price quoted excludes international flights, although we can arrange these for you. Prices are valid till 31st October 2010, but supplements can apply over Christmas and the high season.

North Vietnam tours: Hanoi, hill tribes and magical islands

Our independent North Vietnam tours are packed with nature and culture. One truly unmissable sight is Halong Bay, composed of thousands of limestone columns rising from the sea. It makes a dramatic backdrop for lazy boat trips and treks through Cat Ba National Park.

Further north, along the border with China, you'll find a completely different Vietnam. Our North Vietnam tours will take you to a remote mountain area where you can spend time with the hill tribes and amble amongst the terraced rice paddies.

All of our North Vietnam tours begin in Hanoi, an unusual city where the aroma of fresh spring rolls wafts through the narrow streets. Just beyond the city limits you can explore national parks, visit a rescued ape sanctuary and get a glimpse of daily life in a floating village.

Central and South Vietnam tours: Tailors, tropical beaches and the Mekong Delta

After some action-packed North Vietnam tours, you can break up your journey south with a few days in the central region of Vietnam, where Hoi An and Hué will add a touch of culture to your trip before you hit the beach. They are both atmospheric destinations crammed with lively lanes, historic relics and friendly tailors.

Continuing south, you'll find a rich tropical oasis. Here, you can kick off your flip-flops and laze on a boat as it drifts through the narrow waterways of the Mekong Delta, get goosebumps in the eerie Cu Chi tunnels, and relax on picture-perfect beaches. We've selected a couple of idyllic islands and beaches, allowing you to choose the perfect ending to your independent Vietnam tour.

Independent Cambodia and Laos tours: Mystical temples, untouched villages and colonial cities

Cambodia and Laos are great add-ons for travellers to Vietnam. In Cambodia, you can take a boat trip down the Mekong to the city of Phnom Penh, see the chilling Killing Fields and, of course, visit incredible Angkor Wat. It’s also possible to travel onwards to Thailand and the island of Ko Chang or on to Bangkok, or take a passage north to Laos.

Real independent adventurers often choose Laos as an added destination. In laid back Loas, you can visit the charming temple city of Luang Prabang, try river tubing in Vang Vieng, and hike through the rainforest to the waterfalls of the Boloven plateau.

We offer a couple of great Indochina itineraries. You can also build your own trip with our Cambodia tours or Laos tours.
