Elephants and Waterfalls Vietnam adventure tourRoute: Buon Ma Thuot - Lak Lake - Nha TrangVery few travellers ever venture out as far as remote Central Vietnam. Although, if you have a day or two to spare we think you'll enjoy this Vietnam adventure tour from the countryside to the coast. It's the more scenic option compared to a quick flight from Hoi An to Nha Trang. How does a picnic by a waterfall sound, followed by a quick swim in a wading pool or a hike? We'll also take you on a fun and exciting look around the area during an elephant ride. Climbing on top of one of these colossal animals and bouncing along with every step is an enjoyable way to see the sights. You'll pass by villages with small children sneaking a peek and waving to you from a distance. When your gentle grey giant eventually crosses the river you may get more than your feet wet as it strides towards the other side. Back on dry land you'll explore a local town on foot before boarding wooden canoe for another river crossing. Accommodation in this area is basic; however we stumbled upon a local resort with lots of local charm for you to stay at during this trip. |

Day 1: Arrival in Buon Ma Thuot and Lak LakeYou'll most likely arrive for this module at Buon Ma Thuot after having taken a flight from Danang (near Hoi An). If so, your plane will land in the early evening, giving you just enough time to visit Lak Lake. It is also possible to travel to Buon Ma Thuot from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, just let us know when you submit your quote request form. After you collect your luggage, our driver will come to collect you for the 1 hour drive to Lak Lake. Tourism hasn't yet taken off in this area, so there are only a few places to stay at. After a thorough search we found a resort where you'll have your own simple, yet pleasant bungalow cabin to spend the night in. |

Day 2: Elephant ride and river crossingAfter you've finished breakfast on Day 2 of your Vietnam adventure tour, you'll set off on a fun elephant ride. Very few tourists ever visit this region and those who do generally don't arrive until later in the day. So basically you'll have the entire area to yourself during your early morning ride. |

Day 3: Off to the coast... After breakfast our driver will be waiting to take you to Vietnam's largest collection of waterfalls. Here you can lace up your hiking boots and explore a hiking trail that will take you across suspension bridges from one waterfall to the next. A picnic lunch will be waiting for you upon your return. Pick a nice spot by the falls and enjoy the view as you sit back and unpack your tasty treats. Depending on water levels in the wading pools, you can go for a refreshing swim whilst you're here. After lunch your driver will take you to the starting point of your next Vietnam adventure; the beach town of Nha Trang. Depending on your next destination you'll be on the road for at least 4 hours.Have a look at our summary of tours in Vietnam for ideas on where to go next or contact our Vietnam travel specialists for suggestions.
