During the first part of the trip, you'll travel into the remote wilderness of the north to visit the hill tribe villages nestling in the mountain valleys. Days 1 and 2: HanoiTo start off your Vietnam holiday package you'll arrive in Hanoi and transferred to your hotel. On the way you’ll get your first impressions of Vietnam, buzzing with street traders and mopeds. You'll stay in a charming central hotel very near the Old Quarter, beside the Hang Dau Park. The Old Quarter is the beating heart of Hanoi, packed with steaming food stalls and quirky restaurants. Narrow streets criss-cross each other, their pavements displaying all manner of local goods. In the 13th century, the 36 original streets were divided up among the craft guilds, each guild claiming its own street. The system remains to this day and, even now, Shoe Street sells only shoes. After some retail therapy, visit peaceful Hoan Kiem Lake and munch on a typical Vietnamese spring roll. |

On day two of your Vietnam holiday package, you'll set off on a private sight-seeing tour of the city with your own personal guide. You'll drop in on the preserved body of former President Ho Chi Minh at his formidable mausoleum, where his body is entombed in a glass sarcophagus and surrounded by guards. You'll then visit the inspiring Quan Thanh Temple and the tranquil Temple of Literature, built in the 11th century as the first university of Vietnam. After this, you'll spend some time admiring the Fine Art Museum, the Army Museum and the One-Pillar Pagoda. In the evening, you'll attend a traditional water puppet show - a unique and unforgettable experience. |
Day 3: Hanoi - Hoa Binh - Mai ChauToday, you'll leave Hanoi by private air-conditioned car and continue your Vietnam holiday package as you travel towards the mountains of Hoa Binh. On the way, you'll make a quick stop in a Muong village to learn about the hill tribes and their fascinating folklore. After this, you'll drive on to Mai Chau, inhabited by the White Tai tribe. In Mai Chau, you'll have the rest of the day free to enjoy the friendliness and hospitality of these people, their customs, and their potent Can wine. This wine is made from leaves and is drunk through a bamboo straw. Tonight you'll stay in an authentic stilt house in Mai Chau. |

Day 4: Mai Chau - Son LaIt's day four of your Vietnam holiday package and this morning you'll set off to Son La, renowned in French colonial times for its infamous prison, where opponents and revolutionaries were held captive in horrific conditions. Today you can visit the haunting but fascinating prison, which is now home to the Son La Provincial museum. It's sure to send shivers down your spine. You'll sleep overnight in a hotel in Son La. The museum has a vast number of exhibits that portray the history of the prison and there are lots of historical and cultural objects that have come from the twelve ethnic tribes who live in the province. You’ll spend the night in a comfortable guesthouse in Son La. |
Day 5: Son La - Dien Bien PhuAfter a tasty breakfast, you’ll set off again, this time in the direction of Dien Bien Phu, the next destination on your Vietnam holiday package adventure. You'll stop for a while at peaceful Pa Kuang Lake and hike up to the former command post of General Giap. During the hike, you can enjoy sweeping panoramas of the magnificent mountain region. When you arrive in Dien Bien Phu, you'll instantly sense the historical atmosphere of the village. An enormous battle that took place here during the Indochina war, and to this day you'll find many remnants of the French colonial times. You can visit the Dien Bien Phu museum, A-1 Hill (a scene of very heavy fighting) and the former French command post. Once the sun has set on day five of your Vietnam holiday package, you’ll spend the night in a charming local hotel. |

Day 6: Dien Bien Phu - Lai Chau - Phong ThoIt's day six of your Vietnam holiday package and this morning, you'll head for Phong Tho, stopping first at Lai Chau, a traditional village nestled deep in a green valley surrounded completely by imposing mountains. Along the way, you'll pass people from various hill tribes on the rugged mountain paths. After this, you'll continue to Phong Tho, another little village buried in a valley, which used to be the provincial capital of the area. However, this is the last chance you’ll have to visit the village before it vanishes forever. The government is planning to build a dam in the nearby river and the entire valley will then be flooded. In Phong Tho, you’ll spend the night in a good hotel. |
Day 7: Phong Tho - SapaOn day seven of your Vietnam holiday package, you'll travel on to Sapa, stopping at the villages of Taphin and Cat Cat along the way. These villages are home to the Black H’mong and the Red Dzao hill tribes. The Black H'mong wear mainly black clothing, as their name suggests. The dye that they use tends to run and, as a result, their hands are also stained a little black. The adults chew betel nut - the seeds of the betel palm rolled up in a leaf - which often stains their teeth dark red. This gives them an even more striking appearance. The Red Dzao tribe are famed for their scarlet headdresses. During the rest of your journey to Sapa, you'll see paddy terraces climbing up the mountainsides like giant staircases. When you arrive you'll check into your comfortable hotel. It is full of local charm and lies in the centre of Sapa, with breath-taking views across the rich, green valley. |

Day 8: Sapa - Bac Ha market - Tuyen QuangToday you’ll visit the famous market in Bac Ha, a little town perched high in the mountains. This market is famous as a meeting point for many hill tribe traders, who come here to sell their goods and produce. It is a feast for the senses, with traders dressed in a rainbow of colours displaying fresh vegetables, meats, and other products. It's also a perfect opportunity to pick up a few unique Vietnamese souvenirs made by local people. |
Day 9: Tuyen Quang - Ba Be National ParkYou'll have an early start this morning for a trip into Ba Be National Park, meaning Three Lakes. The park is actually composed of three lakes, all linked by sparkling streams and fast-flowing rivers. These lakes and rivers are all surrounded by dense evergreen forest and limestone mountains known by the locals as the 'expensive jade of Vietnam'. You'll take a boat trip down one of the rivers, mooring and hiking to an ethnic village. There are 5 different ethnic tribes living across 13 villages within the park, and during your visit you'll get a close glimpse of their way of life. On the way back you can spot wildlife, as Ba Be is home to an incredible 160 species of fish, 65 species of mammals, 233 kinds of birds and 354 types of butterfly. You’ll sleep in a lovely guesthouse deep within the national park- this is sure to be a truly memorable part of your Vietnam holiday package, not to mention a real highlight of your Vietnam trip. |

Day 10: Ban Gioc WaterfallYou're ten days into your Vietnam holiday package trip and after breakfast this morning, you’ll travel on to Cao Bang, a mountainous province in the far north of Vietnam. The region shares a border of 314km with China to its north and to its east. From here, you'll head to charming Coc Sa village, and then to the wonderful Ban Gioc Waterfall. The Ban Gioc Waterfall is probably one of the most beautiful in Vietnam, as the foot of the falls is hidden in a veil of mist and hundreds of wild flowers grow along its banks. You'll also have the opportunity to hike through the nearby Nguom Ngao Caves with their secret entrances. Stepping into the enchanting caves, you'll be dazzled by the stalagmites and stalactites in an incredible seven different colours. You can also marvel at the natural statues that have formed in the cave, creating rock sculptures resembling lotus bulbs, fairies, and humans. After this, you’ll travel to Cao Bang, where you’ll stay in a homely hotel. |
Day 11: Pac Bo - Lang Son - HanoiOn day eleven of your Vietnam holiday package you'll make an early start to reach Pac Bo, a quiet mountain get-away and the former headquarters of the Vietminh. Ho Chi Minh himself lived and worked here during the revolution, deciding to stay in the atmosperic Coc Bo caves near to the town. Then you’ll continue to Lang Son, a village on the Chinese border. The capital of Lang Son, 500m above sea level, is situated on the left bank of Ky Cung River. Opposite the town and on the far side of the river is Ky Lua Market. The market is accessible by means of the Ky Cung bridge. Standing on the bridge, you can see a high mountain peak resembling a woman with a baby in her hands, known locally as Vong Phu - Awaiting One's Husband. You'll visit the splendid Citadel here before travelling back to Hanoi. This evening you'll stay at a lovely hotel in the centre of Hanoi. |

Day 12: Halong BayYou'll leave early this morning as you continue your Vietnam holiday package for the journey to Halong Bay. The trip will take approximately 5 hours, and you'll travel by private air-conditioned car with driver. The first part of the journey will take you through the city, which has already been awake for hours. There will be mopeds everywhere, laden with a bags of rice, pans, tyres, vegetables, live chickens and even pigs. Once you get beyond the city limits, the landscape will change into rolling rice paddies and rustic villages. On the way, you'll stop in Hai Phong to pay a quick visit to the lovely Garden Theatre, the Du Hang Pagoda, and the Kenh. Finally, the picturesque landscape of Halong will appear in the distance, with craggy islands thrusting out of the gentle sea. You'll stay in a good hotel in Halong. |
Day 13: Halong Bay - HanoiOn the thirteenth day of your Vietnam trip you’ll explore the bewitching archipelago of Halong Bay by private boat, weaving between craggy limestone islands. Halong Bay is a World Heritage Site, with more than 3000 bizarre rocky formations rising majestically from the emerald green waters. Some of these islands are completely wooded, others are bare rock and many have perfectly secluded sandy beaches. Erosion over millions of years has given the rocky islands their rugged character. During the boat trip you'll visit two spectacular natural caves, Thien Cung and Dau Go, to feel the strange atmosphere of these beautiful grottoes. A fresh seafood lunch will be served on board. After the trip, you'll head back to Hanoi by private air-conditioned car. Tonight you'll spend the night in a lovely hotel in central Hanoi. |

Days 14 and 15: Hanoi - Hué - Pagodas and Perfume RiverYou can spend today at your own leisure until it's time for your transfer to the airport. From Hanoi, you’ll take a quick flight south to the next stop on your Vietnam holiday package, the ancient royal city of Hué. After you have settled in, you'll have a chance to explore the historic legacy of Hué, visiting the royal tombs of Emperor Tu Duc and Emperor Khai. On your second day, you’ll travel by traditional dragon boat on the Perfume River to the striking Thien Mu Pagoda, observing houseboat villages as you drift, making a quick stop at the lively floating market of Dong Ba on the way. You’ll also visit the Minh Mang Tomb and the ruins of the Royal Citadel within the walls of the Forbidden Purple City. Here, you'll find large bronze urns commemorating Nguyen emperors. Most of the buildings within the Purple City were destroyed in the Vietnam War. Now a Cultural Heritage Site, many of these have been reconstructed as authentically as possible. You’ll spend both of these nights in a wonderful hotel in Hué. |
Day 16: Hué - Hoi AnYou're just over halfway through your Vietnam holiday package and this morning, you'll set off early for the journey to Hoi An. This will take between four and five hours. During the trip, you'll cross the awe-inspiring Hai Van Pass, also known as the Pass of the Ocean Clouds, and travel through many picturesque villages with red-tiled roofs and vibrant orchards bearing tropical fruit. The views here are quite simply spectacular, so have your camera at the ready. When you arrive in Danang, you’ll take a short sightseeing tour to the Cham Museum, Marble Mountain, and China Beach (famed for its notorious role in the Vietnam War). After this, you’ll continue to Hoi An, where you'll check into a fantastic colonial-style hotel with a wonderful swimming pool, located very close to the old city. Once you have settled into your room, you'll take a look around the enchanting town, visiting Hoi An Market, the 18th-century Tan Ky House, the Fulkien Assembly Hall and the Japanese covered Bridge. |

Day 17: Hoi An - My Son - Quang NgaiToday, you’ll visit My Son, the holy ground of the Cham people. This area is rich in remnants of the Kingdom of Champa, which ruled this region from the 2nd to the 15th century. You'll notice many Indian influences as you walk among the ruins, wistfully soaking up the historic atmosphere. In the afternoon you'll travel on to Quang Ngai, the nearest village to the site of the horrific My Lai massacre during the Vietnam War. There is a memorial on the site, and a long stretch of sandy beach nearby. You'll stay in a comfortable, central hotel in Quang Ngai on the seventeenth night of your Vietnam holiday package. |
Days 18 and 19: Quang Ngai - Kontum - Buon Me ThoutThis morning you’ll set off on the road to Kontum, capital of the Central Highland province that borders Laos. You'll cover a distance today of 210km, making a refreshing stop at the Que Huong Spa Resort en route. You can unwind in the natural hot spring or take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool. After this, you’ll drive through stunning mountain scenery with virgin forests of dense pine trees. You’ll arrive in Kontum in the afternoon, where you'll check in to a homely and welcoming hotel.The next day, your Vietnam holiday package will take you to explore Kontum with a visit to the wooden church, built over a hundred years ago and another hill tribe village not far away. In the afternoon you'll drive on to Buon Me Thuot, the largest city in west-central Vietnam, located at the southern end of the Dac Lac plateau. Here, coffee is the backbone of the local economy, and you'll find it growing everywhere from the fertile red soil. You'll stay in a charming hotel in Buon Me Thuot. |

Day 20: Lake Lak - Nha TrangAfter breakfast this morning, you’ll leave for Jun village. From here, you’ll ride an elephant to Lake Lak- this is sure to be a real highlight of your Vietnam holiday package. The elephants can negotiate even the most difficult roads with ease, and you’ll get amazing views of the beautiful scenery perched high on their backs. Once you have arrived at the lake, you can visit the little palace of Emperor Bao Dai, and afterwards you’ll drive over the Phuong Hoang Pass in the direction of Nha Trang. The pass is surrounded by grass-covered hills like a smooth emerald carpet. When you arrive in Nha Trang, you'll check into your lovely hotel. |
Day 21: Nha Trang - Cham TowersThis morning, you’ll visit a Hindu holy place dating from the 2nd century AD. The village was built in the 7th and 12th centuries and even nowadays it is still a sacred site of pilgrimage for Cham and Vietnamese Buddhists. Here, you can explore the huge Long San Pagoda and the Ponagar Cham Tower. Your visit will be guided by a small group of nuns. Using their best sign language and their broadest smile they'll try to tell you the history of the towers, which makes for an unmissable experience. You'll have the afternoon free to indulge in some shopping or relax on the white sandy beach. You'll spend another night in the comfortable hotel in Nha Trang. |

Day 22: Nha Trang - DalatIt's day twenty-two of your Vietnam holiday package and this morning you'll leave Nha Trang and head towards Dalat, a cool resort town perched high on a hill. The temperature here rarely rises above 24°C, and the air is mountain fresh, providing a welcome change to the heat and humidity of low lying Vietnam. The area is a Shangri La of outstanding natural beauty, with evergreen forests, lakes, gardens, and waterfalls. In the afternoon you'll visit Lover’s Lane, Dalat's romantic flower garden, the beautiful Linh Son Pagoda and the Bao Dai Royal Villa. You’ll also drive to Xian Huong and Tuyen Lam, two spectacularly beautiful lakes, and explore the Po Klong Garai Cham Tower. You'll spend the night in a charming hotel in central Dalat. |
Day 23: Dalat - Prenn Waterfall - Ho Chi Minh CityAfter breakfast, you’ll head for the next destination on your Vietnam holiday package, Ho Chi Minh City. During the journey, you'll pass vast coffee plantations and huge forests of rubber trees. On the way, you'll make a stop at the Prenn Waterfall, at the foot of the Prenn Mountain Pass. Behind the thundering curtain of water, there is a small wooden bridge, and from here you can see a small lake surrounded by beautiful flowers and pine trees. After visiting the waterfall, you’ll continue your journey to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) where you'll stay in a comfortable hotel in the Dong Khoi district of the city. Day 24: Ho Chi Minh City - Cu Chi Tunnels - Ho Chi Minh CityYou have a fascinating day ahead of you on day twenty-four of your Vietnam holiday package as you visit the Cu Chi Tunnels that lie 30km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City. You'll travel into the area by minibus, passing peaceful paddy fields and watching delta life. Along the way, you'll see an unusual floating temple. |
Day 25: Ho Chi Minh - Mekong Delta - Can ThoThe next few days of your Vietnam trip are dedicated to the Mekong Delta. Your day begins with a private tour to the village of My Tho, on the banks of the mighty Mekong River that runs through Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar. The drive to this village takes approximately 2 hours, and passes through a colourful landscape of ripe orchards and emerald paddy fields. Here, you’ll visit the Vinh Trang pagoda, a beautiful temple that was built in the early 19th century. You'll take a boat trip on the legendary Mekong River, and make an interesting stop at a river island. From the boat, you can marvel at the plentiful flora growing along the fertile riverbanks. In the afternoon, you'll head to an incredible snake farm and the charming village of Dong Tam. After this, you’ll travel on to Can Tho, the regional capital and your final destination for the day. The town is connected with all of the villages in the Mekong Delta by means of the waterways and there are several floating markets selling a huge variety of goods. Tonight, you'll stay in an excellent hotel on the banks of the Mekong. |

Day 26: Can Tho - Mekong Delta - Chau DocAfter breakfast on day twenty-six of your Vietnam holiday package, you'll take to the water again for a private trip on the Rach Ngong River. This will give you a wonderful glimpse of life along the riverbank. You'll visit an orchard and the frenetic Cai Rang floating market. This is the largest, most important, and probably the noisiest floating market in the Mekong Delta. Vendors offer their wares from boats almost sinking under the weight of their produce, and they dangle their goods in the air from a long pole. You'll also see traders link up to swap goods amongst themselves. You’ll then travel on to Chau Doc, stopping on the way at the Bang Lang Bird Sanctuary in Thot Not. The sanctuary is also a breeding site for storks, and you’ll be surrounded by thousands of them - a truly spectacular sight. In the afternoon, you'll go on a guided walk through Chau Doc. You'll also visit the mystical Sam Mountain that offers a view of Cambodia, the Thoai Ngoc Hau Temple and the Lady Xu Temple. You'll spend the night in a comfortable hotel in Chau Doc. |
Day 27: Chau Doc - Hon ChongToday you’ll take a sampan trip on the Mekong River- a truly unique and memorable part of your Vietnam holiday package. A sampan is a traditional Asian boat, used by Vietnamese traders to sail the river. You’ll visit an Islamic floating village with its very own floating mosque. After this, you’ll travel on to Hon Chong, stopping en route at Ha Tien, a picturesque seaside village. In the village, you’ll visit the impressive Thach Dong temple. Finally, after a busy day, you’ll spend the night in a comfortable hotel in Hon Chong. |

Days 28 and 29: Hon Chong - Phu Quoc Island
Once you’ve finished breakfast, you’ll set off to visit Chua Hang, a beautiful pagoda in a cave. You’ll also explore the Gieng Tien River by boat. From the boat, you'll see the island of Hon Phu Tu, which means ‘Father and Son Island’. It was given this name because the island is shaped like a father embracing his son. After this, you'll take the hydrofoil boat to Phu Quoc, a spectacularly beautiful island with much virgin countryside. The crossing takes about 2 hours. You’ll spend 2 nights on the idyllic island, relaxing on the unspoilt beaches or exploring the area by scooter. Just off the coast of Phu Quoc, there are wonderful coral reefs and you can snorkel through these colourful underwater gardens- a great way to round off your Vietnam holiday package. On the final nights of your Vietnam trip, you'll stay in one of the charming bungalows right on the beach, in a resort run by a welcoming Vietnamese family. |
Day 30: Phu Quoc - Ho Chi Minh City - UKYour return journey will start today as your Vietnam holiday package comes to an end. You'll be taken to the airport in Phu Quoc for the quick flight to Ho Chi Minh City, where you can catch your connecting flight home.
